SLS in the UVA Community

SLS & the UVA Community

One of SLS's goals is to form partnerships with UVA community members and organizations to better connect students to resources and get to know the university climate better. We do this by hosting an internship program for students, coordinating know your rights workshops and participating in legal clinics. We want to go out into the community to make sure students know about us a resource and to equip them with the knowledge to avoid future legal issues.

Types of Presentations

Workshops

SLS, with the assistance of the SLS interns, can work with your organization to lead a workshop that will help students learn their legal rights. We can assist with lease signing workshops, other housing law related workshops, and constitutional rights workshops on criminal law. We are also open to other workshops within our practice areas.

Clinics

Clinics are legal services that assist in legal processes that we may partner with a student organization to coordinate. Examples of clinics are lease reviews and name and/or gender changes. We are open to other ideas for clinics.

Speaker for an Event

SLS is happy to speak at a small event or panel to discuss our services, attorney experiences and pathways, and intern experiences. Give us a call if you are interested in having someone from SLS speak at your event.

Partnerships with Student Organizations

Student Legal Services offers a variety of events, workshops, and presentations to help student organizations learn more about the law and how it affects everyday life.
